On April 3rd, 56 lucky ticket-holders went to Toronto for dinner and a theatre night. This year, we saw Dirty Dancing at the historic Royal Alexandra Theatre which is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary. The show was fabulous - clever staging, memorable music and great dancing!
Watch for an announcement for next year’s trip. The top two picks are a dazzling new production of The Sound of Music at the Princess of Wales Theatre opening in October 2008 and the award-winning new musical production by Oprah Winfrey of The Color Purple opening at the Canon Theatre in February 2009. Maybe we’ll try to do both!!

DECEMBER 2007 South Lincoln Prepares for Sears 2008
The drama department is putting on the original comedy, Mac-whaat? in February as our entry into the Sears Drama Festival. We will be performing the show at the school on February 12 at 7 pm in the evening for parents, as well as on February 13 for South Lincoln students and local elementary schools. The play is a comedy written by Ms. Short, Ms. Garrett, Anjene Balint and Derek Schoeneberg.
Miss Hathaway has to teach the entire play of Macbeth in one period! How on earth will she do it? How will her students react? Hilarity ensues as she rushes through one of Shakespeare's most well known scripts. A sure fire crowd pleaser.
....Grade 9's get into the Act
Ms. Short's Grade 9 Drama class presents on two children's plays in December. On Tuesday December 17th, SLHS's drama department will present the children's comedies "Alison Wonderland" and "Idiots of the Caribbean". Tickets are $5 at the door for adults, $3 for students/seniors. A non-perishable donation to West Lincoln Community Care gets you a $1 off your ticket! Come and see these two hilarious spoofs. The show starts at 7pm.
Alison is lost in Wonderland. She's an average tweenage girl in a very un-average world. Watch as she has supper with the Mad Toupeer, the Cheshire Horse, C-Ball, the hip hop rabbit, and the Prime Minister of Wonderland herself! Will Alison be able to escape the evil clutches of Brianna, the friend she left behind? Come and see this funny twist on a classic!
How many silly pirates does it take to find a treasure? "Idiots of the Caribbean" is a play about a forgetful king, his angry wife and their son, Whatchamacallit as they search out buried treasure. But who will find it first? Captain McNasty and her crew are also on the prowl! And the island is guarded by the ghost of a ric
h divorcee! Will they be able find the island? Will they be able to solve the riddle? Will they be able to see anything except for the glow from Johnny the Jester's terrible outfit? Come and see this hilarious adaptation of a pirate's tale!

OCTOBER 2007 Here Comes The Chicken
South Lincoln High School staff, students and parents have once again decided to support our local chicken farmers and sell 14 different chicken products with the help of Maple Lodge Farms. These products are listed and pictured on the coloured brochures that the students are carrying as they sell. Chicken is a meal we all enjoy any day of the week and we can serve it hundreds of different ways. When a food is so tasty and good for you, it is not surprising it’s so popular. See the nutritional values on the website: www.maplelodgefarms.com Thanks for supporting South Lincoln High School’s 2007 fund-raising endeavor by purchasing some of the Maple Lodge products or supporting the sales by your son or daughter.
We will start selling October 19, 2007 and stop selling November 5, 2007. (No orders will be accepted after November 5, 2007) The chicken will be delivered to the school on Tuesday November 13, 2007 from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. The student that sells to you will pick up your product on that date and make arrangements with you to deliver it.
Eighty percent of the profits from the chicken sales will go directly back into projects that the students will have a say in for the betterment of all the students in our school the other twenty percent will go to a charity of the students choice to be announced formally at the end of the school year . Students and parents are asked to make suggestions for these projects and charities in the suggestion box in the Room 26. The final project decisions will be voted on at the student/parent council meetings in March and June, come join us at the meeting to decide how to spend the money that raise together.
A great big thanks to all those students and staff that sell in advance and another great big thanks to the local businesses for supporting our efforts.

SLHS Cell Phone Policy The classroom is for instructional purposes not social networking. On some occasions, it has been calls from parents that have been intercepted during class time. We are asking parents to support our request by calling their sons/daughters during the hours stipulated above to avoid the need to segregate parent calls from social calls. In an emergency, parents may contact the Main Office and students may be pulled from their classes as required or for less urgent matters, students may receive the messages during their break.
